The work I do + My philosophy on treating You
Being a psychologist is far more than just a job for me.
I’ve always been deeply passionate about how emotion both manifests and impacts on our overall wellbeing, making the work I do an even more sacred practice.
I ventured into private practice in 2020 and have thus far worked with thousands of patients, all of which have equipped me with a unique sensitivity to how emotions play a part in guiding our lives.
I only work with adults 21 years and older.
I work holistically, with a special interest in trauma, incorporating principles from how the mind-body-soul all work together in our overall wellbeing.
This means that I draw from a combination of modalities, such as:
Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT)
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
Somatics
BWRT (Brain-working recursive therapy) level 1
Psychodynamic psychotherapy and,
Transpersonal psychology
I believe that because each individual is unique, it is important that you are afforded bespoke treatment plans suitable to your needs. This forms an integral part of how I lead each session with my clients.
Some of my other professional experience thus far includes working at the Oprah Winfrey School, the Foundation for Human Rights, at Helen Joseph hospital and with both chronic pain and renal patients. I also have a notable online presence, having my own mental health show on Radio Islam in 2020 and appearing on various other radio shows to discuss the importance of mental health, especially within the Indian Muslim communities.
I have a special interest in spirituality and how what happens to us never occurs in isolation, but forms part of the bigger picture of the greater life lessons we’re each called to learn.
I’ve also recently chosen to further my knowledge in Islamic psychology. Being an advocate for how the heart also holds GREAT weight in the field of mental health has sparked a passion within me to both study and incorporate such principles within my sessions with you.
