Heart Minded

About me:

As a child, I always found myself doing one of two things: I was either writing about emotion or talking about it. From as far back as I can remember, I’ve always found myself absolutely fascinated by what I couldn’t see, but could always deeply feel. Intricately attuned to the inner worlds of those around me, I spent so much of my time simply marvelling at how most of what defines us was so neatly tucked away and hidden from the human eye.

And so I had to find a way to bring my passion to life by studying psychology.

Growing up in an Indian Muslim community meant that emotions were often very unfamiliar territory for many households and were either spiritually bypassed or largely swept under the rug.

It’s why when I decided to become a psychologist, healing from trauma became one of the biggest foci of the work I do. My passion was always about giving words to the emotions we carry within, creating welcoming and safe spaces for others to acclimate themselves to their own emotional landscapes and most importantly, providing the right tools to help individuals use their trauma as a means of gaining active agency over their lives, rather than being passive victims of whatever lessons life threw at them
